About

The spirit of Busy Bees lies with the families we connect with, the children who thrive in our care and being an integral part of the community. All the staff are qualified to a high level, the are experience and confident practitioners who focus on the children in our care. We are child centred and our dedicated team focus on the individuality of each child. Learning is progressed and developed supported by our many varied resources, experiences and children’s interests.

Typical Day

9.15 am Children arrive and settle in. 

Registration – an introduction to listening, responding to their names and answering Busy Bee Marshalwick.  Progress is to recognise the named cards and to pre reading skills.  

The children learn the days of the week and about the weather though singing and action rhymes. We also use Makaton signs. 

Child led play is encouraged with a choice of resources and activities across two rooms with free flow access to the outside area.  Opportunities include small world play, book corner, role play, painting, colouring, dinosaurs, dolls house, craft and open-ended play with natural resources, including water and sand. 

Everyday there is an adult lead activity when all sorts of chances to explore and learn are provided, linked to a weekly theme. After tidying we all enjoy a story and join together for a health snack. 

During small group time we experience, music, mindfulness, stretching, dance and active story telling. 

Outdoor play is then encouraged and children can run, hop and skip or ride bikes and challenging themselves on the climbing frame. 

The preschool joins together with the nursery children to complete the morning with singing and celebrations before the  morning ends at 12.15pm. 

Children staying for lunch wash their hands and sit together at tables to enjoy their packed lunches. 

The afternoon session from 1.00pm to 3.00pm builds on the morning session in a more relaxed format. In these sessions both age groups play together and learn to make friends with the other age group. 

Our day ends at 3.00pm when children are collected.
